For two months, all of October and November, we celebrated Sunday Mass facing the rising sunshine. Now we are back inside our "Santisima Trinidad" hall.
I was disappointed to come in from the beautiful morning air and streaming sunshine. Only then to discover that we are now so much more uplifting and uplifted in our song and praise of the Lord. Of course, our singing is focused on the Lord, lead by the heavenly hosts-- in order to offer to Him a sacrifice of praise. But singing outside, while wearing masks, left a subtle impression that participation was weak and floundering. The impression was false, but the contrast of being together under one roof has allowed an unintended echo from the Holy Spirit assuring each of us that we are not alone and isolated but rather in communion of persons, with the Lord and the whole Mystical Body of Christ.
This is all the more important during the virus distancing and stifling, when we need one anothers' encouragement and presence.
