Playing Loteria (think Bingo) at a recent celebration.
Though they appear unenthusiastic in the photo below, Lindoro and his wife Luisa are pictured listening to a couple-- fellow students-- telling of the impact on their lives of the course just completed. All of the students who qualified to receive their certification are being honored at the closing of the Summer courses. Certification depends on completing the requisites of their particular course, in this case “Understanding the Good News”:
they were punctual and had minimum absences
they completed all of the homework on time
they memorized the essential components of the Gospel Proclamation with some accompanying Scripture citations.

The course is demanding but quite enriching, detailing the principal elements of the Paschal Mystery and how we are rescued by Jesus Christ through His death, resurrection, ascension and outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The goal of this course is to strengthen a confident understanding and to reinforce the resolve of these couples to proclaim and to give testimony to Jesus’ saving work in our lives; in short, to equip missionary couples for the mission of every Christian, especially those who have received Confirmation. Luisa has to study with her glasses and an additional magnifying glass.
Reading and memorizing presented an extra challenge to Luisa, whose eyesight is quite limited. She persevered and is indeed strengthened and teaming up with her husband. They witnessed to Lindoro’s brother and sister-in-law who are now studying courses at El Rancho Nazaret and are actively taking steps to get Married Sacramentally.
