The four adolescents in the background go to a different classroom each week to proclaim the Good News in a succinct and understandable presentation. L to R: Jesús, Rafael, Aminadab and Pablo.
Each course session in our School for Families runs for 9 weeks and includes both couples and single people. With a few exceptions, the ninth week is a plenary gathering for certifying those couples or individuals who have successfully completed all of the course requirements, and for hearing selected testimonies from each course. A third feature of this large gathering is to honor the teachers who have cared for and instructed the children during the nine-week sessions. Several teachers can be seen in the background: Monica, far left; Angi, left-center; Jesús, right and Hermalinda, far right.
The children’s courses allow the parents the freedom to engage fully in their courses. What began years ago as “babysitting” for those couples during their course, has been developing into a very comprehensive curriculum tailored to the age and development of the sons and daughters of the enrolled couples. The curriculum for the children develops areas of understanding the Catholic faith and familiarity with the Holy Scriptures, imagination, social skills and human relationships and teamwork. Ramiro (background) is a married man who with his wife Maria, has been serving as a teacher for many years. They haven't been blessed with their own children, but have taken into their hearts all the children in the escuelita (school for the children).
