With four other transitional deacons Honorio was ordained to the priesthood on the feast of the Chair of St. Peter on 22 February, 2019. The feast day coincided with our Bishop's 28th anniversary of priestly ordination as well as the 60th anniversary of the establishment of our Diocese of Matamoros.
Honorio has been a close friend of the Seguidores de la Cruz since his introduction to our Solteros (Single men & Women's group). With a good number of the Solteros, several of whom now form married couples and young families, Honorio has forged strong friendships. Those friendships have matured and continued to deepen in communion and fellowship during his time of formation and studies leading up to the day of ordination. The celebration capped a time of Honorio giving himself generously to his vocation in the Lord. The Seguidores de la Cruz were also grateful to have been instrumental in Honorio hearing the Lord Jesus' calling and to have accompanied their brother to the beautiful day. Honorio honored Fr. Tim with the privilege of being the padrino for vesting the newly ordained priest. We are looking forward to Honorio celebrating his cantamisa at El Rancho Nazaret on 3 March. (cantamisa -- a first celebration of the Mass at a special location; a Mexican priest generally presides at several cantamisas where he has strong ties with the community). Honorio has been serving in Nuestra Senora de San Juan Parish in Matamoros during his deaconate and for the near future will continue with that assignment. But we look for opportunities to collaborate with him in the renewal of family life and inspiring the youth and Solteros of Seguidores de la Cruz.
