On successive weekends Bishop Eugenio Andrés Lira Rugarcía visited the cities and populated regions of the Diocese of Matamoros. Invoking the Lord for protection and seeking the intercession of Our Lady of Refuge, our diocesan patroness, we were placed under divine protection.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel, a downtown parish.
Beginning in downtown Reynosa, the bishop celebrated Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, after which he began his tour of blessing the other parishes from the back of a pickup truck. On the video, at the 1:55 mark, he is passing San Martin de Porres Parish, which is less than a mile from El Rancho Nazaret, the location of our mission. The neighborhoods which can be seen in the following parishes are typical of where many of our Seguidores de la Cruz live.
Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish (whose grounds are shown on the left of this picture) is the home parish of many of our people who are leaders or who have completed courses at the mission.
At the end of the video, the plane in which the bishop was transported to bless the entire city took off as twilight approached.
Bishop Eugenio Andrés is finally shown in the cockpit holding the Blessed Sacrament in the monstrance with the city sprawling out before the Lord.
