The Stations of the Cross at the mission are nearly ready to be unveiled. Twenty-one years ago, we were able to purchase the land which is now our center for Catholic Family Renewal, called El Rancho Nazaret. The first order of business was to build a shrine to Our Lady of Fatima and secondly to erect the Stations of the Cross. These two devotions, so apt for families, are a well-used aspect of the mission. It is quite often that a family will plan to arrive early or to spend extra time at an event in order to pray together, accompanied by the songs and sounds of the many birds who now have taken El Rancho as their permanent home. The years and the climate have taken their toll on the Stations and the construction we used on those very first efforts to build in Reynosa. The sun is nearly relentless, weathering quite nearly to the point of unrecognition the photographs which we mounted as stations. Then when the rain finally does come it is often a soaking deluge which also effected the images. The renewed stations will feature fiberglass reliefs of the classic fourteen stations and as always the Eucharistic chapel to meditate upon the fifteenth, which s the Resurrection of Jesus and His triumph which we are called to live and proclaim.
