Seven pilgrims participated in the Canonization Mass of St Charles de Foucauld on May 15 in St Peter's square. Two of these were representatives of Servants of the Cross from the mission in Reynosa, Mexico.
Mary Patt Pirie, John & Eileen Patton, Patricia & John (John was the photographer for this shot), Sr. Casey, Fr. Tim and Magdalen Pozuc at the Canonization Mass. Mary Patt lives in Rome , a consecrated woman of Regnum Christi. She helped us to navigate in Rome and joined with us during the Canonization Mass.
Sister Casey and Fr. Tim were sent from El Rancho Nazaret in Reynosa to the great celebration presided by Pope Francis. St Charles, who has long been an integral component of our spirituality is the author of the prayer of abandonment. He was canonized along with nine other new saints from several different countries.
St. Charles lived a life radically given over to the Lord Jesus for the sake of his neighbors. His "apostolate of friendship" envisioned men and women living a communal life centered on the Holy Eucharist and then going out to bring this presence of Christ to others at work and in their neighborhoods.
Sr .Casey and Hilary enjoying a wonderful reunion after many years.
Sr. Casey was able to catch up with Hilary Zecchini who lived with us at El Rancho Nazaret for several months when she was a single woman. She is now married and living in Brescia, Italy, with her husband and six-year-old son.
Sr. Claire, who designed the Charles de Foucauld exhibit for the Museum for the City of Rome, was kind enough to take us through the exhibit, highlighting the aspects of his spirituality that she appreciated most as a Little Sister of Jesus.
