Members of Seguidores de la Cruz take advantage of the opportunity to attend Holy Week services in their local parish communities (often in a satellite chapel somewhat far removed from the main parish church.) Others decide to take on a missionary approach, joining the consecrated women or Padre Tim who serve the beautiful liturgies in not-so-beautiful settings: sometimes in a chapel which has no roof; or for example, in a rural setting which has to celebrate the Easter Vigil at mid-afternoon before darkness beautifies the blessing of the Easter Candle. Many times, the Easter procession winds toward the chapel in darkness because the wind extinguishes every candle.

Nonetheless, many of the customs are rich, colorful and deeply imbued with the people’s storied faith. Mexico is a country of many martyrs. The faith of the people plumbs depths that missionaries from the USA must observe with respect and openness to learn.

Seguidores de la Cruz members are also evangelizing actively through hospitality by way of the household suppers, prayers and special Holy Week and Easter table blessings. “And you shall tell your son on that day, 'It is because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt.'” (Exo 13:8).
